What do I have to offer?
I love the story of the little boy who shared his five loaves and two fish with Jesus. John 6 tells us Jesus took the boy’s meal and fed thousands of people with it.
Sometimes I feel like that little boy; maybe that’s why I love the story so much. I feel what I have to offer is small. I’ll admit sometimes I haven’t even been sure what I have to offer. The truth is, like that little boy, all Christ-followers have something to offer. God gives each at least 1 spiritual gift. When we offer that gift for His use, He does more with it than we could ever imagine (Ephesians 3:20).
What is a spiritual gift?
A spiritual gift is an ability God gives to enable us to serve other people.
Romans 12:3-8 and 1 Corinthians 12:1-31 describe the gifts given by the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 4:12-13 explains we serve others with our gift, “so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”
Spiritual gifts are given by God to unify, teach us about Jesus, and help us mature together.

teach us about Jesus, and help us mature together"

How can I discover my spiritual gifts?
Here are 3 online spiritual gifts assessment tools. Use these tools to help you to understand where you are spiritually and how God has gifted you. Once you have completed these assessments (and another is available at PC Church), schedule a consultation with one of our staff members to talk through your results. God often uses other Christ-followers to affirm our gifts. Ask your spouse, parent or close friend what gifts they see that you have.

Now that I have discovered my gifts then what?
Once gifts are discovered, the next step is to take action on that discovery. God wants you to "give your spiritual gifts away” through service.
Let me tell you how I have matched my interests and gifts with ministry opportunities. One of my primary gifts is teaching. I love being involved with adults; kids not so much. So, the primary way I use my gift of teaching in a ministry setting is teaching in the main services on Sundays. I also have a gift of administration and leadership. I use those gifts in leading and administrating Palm Canyon Church.
Once you have completed the spiritual gifts assessment(s) and complete a consultation, your consultant will help you match your gift(s) with a ministry. Step out into the unknown and get involved in that ministry! Within a short period of time you’ll know if that was truly a “match.” You’ll love what you’re doing and it will be fulfilling. Now, just because you found your “match” doesn’t mean that you won’t need to develop your gift with training, coaching, reading and experience. Gifted people are always seeking to become better at what they do!
