Get to
know Pastor John and his family

John Stewart is the Pastor of Student Ministries at Palm Canyon Community
Church. He started there on August 14th, 1989 and has been the only Youth
Pastor at the church. When Pastor John first arrived, the youth group had ten
students in a combined Middle School and High School group and now - through
Direct Effect and The EDGE - many are coming every month, hearing the good
news of Jesus Christ and growing closer in their relationship to God. We
thought we'd let you know a little bit about his family...
The Marriage
Pastor
John and Patti Stewart were married on March 25th, 1989 at New Life
Community Church in Artesia, CA. They met at that same church when they were
both in junior high school and long before dating (as seniors in high school)
they were close friends. They moved to Moreno Valley five months after being
married when Pastor John accepted a call to work at Palm Canyon.
The Children
Brayden is the oldest son and was born on May 8, 1994... Mother's Day!
It was the best Mother's Day gift Patti's ever received. He loves baseball
(any sport really), the computer, video games and reading. Brayden is
currently in the seventh grade and loves being involved in our middle school
ministry and playing keyboards for Rock N Faith (the band for our Children's
Ministry on Sunday mornings).
Trent was born four years and four days after Brayden on May 12, 1998.
He continues to be "active" In the truest sense of the word. He also loves
sports, the computer, video games, and reading with his mom. He is
currently in the third grade and is involved in church through AWANA and The
Rock. He helps his mom in Bible Buddies on Sunday morning and also plays
drums and sings for Rock N Faith.
Both boys attend Calvary Chapel Christian School in Moreno Valley and
Brayden is on the baseball team. Most of the boy’s free time is spent with
each other, the family, and their neighborhood friends. They enjoy swimming
in the pool, light saber battles (yeah Star Wars), the computer, video
games, and of course baseball (backyard, front yard, house, wherever). They
also love God and are growing in their knowledge and understanding of Him.
The Wrap Up
Pastor
John is one lucky man. A great wife, terrific children, and a nice home...God has been good. Time is of the essence for
the family and with so much going on
at church, it's nice sometimes just to get away and spend some quality time
together. It is Pastor John and Patti's desire that their family would grow closer
together as they grow closer to God. They want to raise their boys to know Jesus
and to share the gifts God has given them to make a difference in the
Kingdom of God (as they are trying to do themselves).
